Restoring Habitats
Diyathuru Uyana has been developed as a dedicated wetland biodiversity zone adjacent to our operations, with ecological assessments conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment. A further 5 acres has been allocated to organic paddy cultivation, extending the initiative beyond habitat conservation into more sustainable land use.
Regenerating Coastal Ecosystems
Through our coastal restoration initiatives, we are supporting mangrove regeneration and community participation in ecosystem conservation. Activities have included the planting of 1,000 mangroves and coastal cleanup programmes, alongside environmental education and awareness.
Conserving Native and Endemic Species
We work with universities, environmental authorities and other partners on targeted conservation initiatives, including the propagation and restoration of endemic Lagenandra species and native tree planting at Diyathuru Uyana.
Measuring Nature and Carbon
Independent biodiversity assessments support our understanding of species and habitat conditions, while carbon stock assessments undertaken with Control Union apply recognised methodologies including ISO 14064-1:2018 and IPCC guidance.
