Communities & Social Impact

Our connection with surrounding communities is shaped by the employment we create, the impacts of our operations and the needs identified through continued engagement. Through GreenCatalyst, we focus on initiatives that strengthen livelihoods, education, health and wellbeing while building longer-term relationships with the communities around our manufacturing locations.

Shaped by Community Needs

We seek to support community needs through strategic, long-term and meaningful engagement with the people and institutions around our operations. By staying connected to local priorities, we are able to focus our efforts on areas where we can create practical value, strengthen livelihoods and contribute to more resilient communities over time.

Education

Our education initiatives include support for school infrastructure, books and learning materials, together with programmes aimed at improving access to educational opportunities.
Through the wider Puritas Sathdiyawara – Going Beyond initiative, we also support communities affected by Chronic Kidney Disease, including educational assistance for children in Rathmalgahawewa and surrounding areas.

Health & Wellbeing

Community health programmes include blood donation campaigns, healthcare assistance and support for vulnerable groups. Initiatives have included partnerships with the National Blood Transfusion Service, HelpAge Sri Lanka and healthcare institutions to respond to identified health needs.

Livelihoods & Local Economic Opportunity

Employment remains one of the most direct ways in which our operations contribute to surrounding communities. We also support livelihood development through local sourcing, community enterprise and targeted programmes designed to strengthen household income and economic resilience.

Community & Environmental Action

Our social and environmental priorities increasingly intersect through initiatives that involve communities in conservation, awareness and restoration. Programmes such as Breath create opportunities for employees and communities to participate in coastal conservation, mangrove restoration and wider environmental awareness.

Measuring Impact

GreenCatalyst requires community programmes to be periodically monitored through beneficiary feedback, impact assessments, audits and, where appropriate, independent evaluation. This helps us assess whether programmes are addressing the needs they were designed to meet and informs future community investment.
