Environmental

Managing the environmental impact of fabric manufacturing requires action across every stage of production. Our environmental approach focuses on the five interconnected areas of energy and emissions, water, chemicals, materials and waste and biodiversity – with defined management systems, targets and initiatives embedded across our operations.
We continue to invest in resource efficiency, renewable energy, water recovery, responsible chemistry, circular material use and nature restoration, supported by internationally recognised standards and independent validation.
Each of our environmental focus areas is supported by recognised external standards, frameworks or certifications, from ISO 50001 for energy and the CEO Water Mandate for water to ZDHC, OEKO-TEX and Zero Waste to Landfill. This provides a clear basis for measuring performance and demonstrating progress through independently recognised benchmarks.
Explore each area to see how these commitments translate into action across our operations.

Energy & Emissions

Hayleys Fabric Group emerged as Sri Lanka’s first fabric manufacturer to secure Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for its net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets, establishing a defined pathway aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Water Stewardship

Water is integral to fabric manufacturing, particularly across dyeing, washing and finishing. Our approach focuses on reducing freshwater use, improving efficiency and increasing recovery and reuse across our operations.

Responsible Chemicals

Responsible chemical management is embedded across our manufacturing processes, from the selection and sourcing of inputs to their use, handling and discharge.

Materials & Circularity

Making better use of materials starts with reducing what enters the production process and extending the value of what remains. Our approach combines resource efficiency, waste prevention, reuse and recycling to reduce material loss across our operations.

Biodiversity & Nature

Our approach to biodiversity focuses on protecting and restoring ecosystems connected to our operations, supported by site-based conservation, ecological assessment and partnerships with communities, universities and specialist organisations.
