Transparent and Accurate Reporting

Sustainability claims are only useful if they can be checked against a recognised standard, which is why Hayleys Fabric PLC reports against the same disclosure frameworks used by manufacturers and investors internationally, rather than a set of internally defined metrics. Our reporting aligns with GRI Standards, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SASB, and the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, and we follow the Gender Parity Reporting Framework issued by CA Sri Lanka. We were also among the early adopters of SLFRS S1 and S2, Sri Lanka’s sustainability-related financial disclosure standards, well ahead of when adoption became mandatory for most listed companies.
Adopting SLFRS S1 and S2 early wasn’t just a reporting change, it meant integrating sustainability-related risk into our governance, risk management and reporting frameworks directly, rather than producing a parallel sustainability report disconnected from financial disclosure. That took internal collaboration across finance, ESG and operational teams, stronger data systems capable of holding up to external scrutiny, and the internal capacity to interpret and apply new disclosure requirements accurately, the kind of groundwork that’s easy to underestimate until a regulator or auditor asks for it.

Reporting and Disclosure Frameworks

Rather than picking a single standard and calling it sufficient, we report against the combination of frameworks most relevant to a fabric manufacturer operating internationally, spanning general sustainability disclosure, sector-specific standards for apparel, and financial-grade climate and sustainability reporting:
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards – reported “In Accordance,” as issued by the Global Sustainability Standards Board.
  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • SASB’s Sustainability Accounting Standard for the Apparel, Accessories and Footwear sector.
  • The ten principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC).
  • UNGC CEO Water Mandate.
  • Gender Parity Reporting Framework of CA Sri Lanka.
  • Sustainability-related accounting standards SLFRS S1 and S2.

Recent Annual Reports

Our full sustainability performance, methodology and disclosures are set out in detail in our Annual Reports, published each financial year and available for download. Each report includes the underlying data behind the frameworks listed above, not just headline commitments, so a reader with a specific question about methodology or a specific year’s figures has somewhere concrete to look.

Together, this combination, internationally recognised frameworks, early adoption of new financial disclosure standards, and annual reporting made publicly available, is what lets stakeholders, from brand partners assessing supply chain risk to investors evaluating long-term value, check our sustainability claims against a consistent, external yardstick rather than take them on trust. That’s the standard we hold our own reporting to, and it’s one we expect to keep raising as disclosure requirements in Sri Lanka and internationally continue to evolve.
